Going-Out Glam: Occasional Dressing Tips + Tricks.
By: Diana Marks
Award season has officially started and as always, I am beyond excited to check out the latest red carpet and party looks. But instead of recapping new trends for event dressing from celebrity stylists, I will add my own perspective on occasional dressing.
From casual to formal, corporate to private, there are so many events and parties in a modern woman’s life, and each carries the obligation to look our best. We all know that we can't truly enjoy our time unless we’re absolutely sure we love the outfit we are wearing. And sometimes the look is even more important than the party itself.
So here are a few tips and tricks from my little book of secrets to help you make your party outfit look chic and elegant regardless of the size of the event.
Gold is the most precious color there is. Take a simple monotone look, add gold accessories and you are the queen of the party. Reason is, that gold has always been considered a color of wealth, health, and status. Shiny and eye catching, gold accessories will immediately add richness and warmth to your look, making you feel like a sophisticated modern day fairy. Try mixing gold accessories with satin or velvet for an extra chic feel.
A touch of red is always a good idea. With so many shades, you can easily find one that fits your persona and pull off your own "lady in red" look. Even though total red looks were trending last year, I still advise sticking with only one red item per outfit. Whether it's red shoes, a bag, a jacket, or a dress, go for whatever you like, but make sure you add other colors to the mix.
There is no better occasion to wear sequins and shine than a glam event. But be careful not to go too far and be mistaken for a disco ball. Go for a sequin accessory such as a clutch or shoes if you want to play it safe, or add some serious shine with a sequin blazer or dress. In that case, mix it up with pastel or darker colors to avoid shining too bright :)
