Summer Trends That Never Go Out of Style
By: Diana Marks
With so many trends coming and going by so fast, it's hard to keep track of everything that's happening in the ever-changing fashion industry. But my personal advice to you is "don't"! Don't follow the trends, don't follow the news, just be whoever you are and wear whatever you want. As Yves Saint Laurent once said, "Fashions fade, style is eternal" and I couldn't agree more. I personally don't follow many trends, stick to my preferences and enjoy the moment. But as it turns out, I’m still trendy! Without even knowing it, I wear florals, denim, and colors each summer and it's in style each and every year. It seems like some trends just never lose traction. So, I came up with a list of the six most popular trends to show you how you can stay chic and true to yourself at the same time.
At some point I wrote a whole article solely about black and white, which goes to show how much I love wearing this combo. It's trendy each season, but in summer time you can enjoy lighter fabrics and even more variations of this eternally stylish color combo.
Each and every year I am drawn to the nautical theme. Perhaps it’s because almost every nautical look is preppy (and that's my style!), or simply because I associate blue and white stripes with seaside vacations. Regardless of the reason, nautical looks have been trending the past few years, which makes me confident that they won't leave trend boards any time soon.
Florals are always going to be trendy simply because they’re symbolic of summer. And let's admit it, ladies, we love flowers. Brands capitalize on this fact by releasing pretty and affordable dresses each year, which we happily wear all summer.
Especially overalls. I’ve loved denim for as long as I can remember. It's easy to style up and down, comfy to wear, and in most cases quite sexy. In the past few years, though, overalls seem to have made a comeback and I don't see them leaving the fashion scene any time soon.
5. Color Block:
It was a trend at some point, now it's just a regular way of dressing. Everyone does it. Wearing two or more contrasting colors together pleases the eye and immediately sets you in a good mood for the whole day! So why not?
6. A Pop of Color:
Contrary to color-blocking, a pop of color is just one bright item/color accenting an otherwise dark or monotone look. This trend is equally appealing all year long and particularly in summer. I usually get away with neon. I feel that neon yellow creates the best pop since it's the brightest color one can find.
