Prints and patterns established their own explosive moment when they arrived on the scene in a number of ways this season. Whether they're used to break up a solid ensemble or daringly clashed together for a whimsical look, prints provide an ultra-cool touch.
Building an au courant look this season is easy with signature dauntless prints from designers such as Versace and Missoni. Due to their riveting swirls of colors and shapes, these prints provide an effortless twist to a look through accessories such as scarves or even umbrellas.
Experimenting with prints this season will allow you to play with the mood of your look and shift the direction for either the office or after dark festivities. You can easily soften a look with a simple floral print or polka dots, add a touch of class with paisley, or turn up the heat by sneaking in an animal print such as a leopard clutch.
Now, If you're feeling daring, take this seasons "clashing" trend in your own hands. As seen on the runway in Dolce & Gabbana's Fall 2011 show, polka dots and animal print collided in an unpredictable yet effortlessly cool, downtown-chic look. Don't be afraid to play around with your own patterns and prints to create your own unique look this season.
So, from zebra print to magnified paisley, heavy printed accessories are a must have in your wardrobe this season. Use them to magically shift the mood of a look or work them on a different scale to create a playful and in-the-moment ensemble.

Winter may just be getting started but Fashion Spring is just around the corner. One of Miami Olivia’s favorite Fashion Trends for Spring starts with COLOR-Blocking! Spring always rocks color but this year designers have spiced things up a bit with patterned color blocking. Shirts and blouses have rich paisley prints in large blocks paired with swishy loose pants and bohemian maxi skirts. Patterns and graphics have crept into the Color Blocking Spring scene as bold and brash as any lush and lusty gypsy camp. Even shoes and handbags in not-so-subtle color blocking are making a statement as must have accessories.
So how does one put this look together like the rich and fabulous? Start with one piece that you love, like the multi-tiered maxi skirt of outrageous paisleys. Pair with a long, loose, printed color-blocked collared shirt that has at least one of the major colors of the skirt. Leave the last bottom buttons loose and tie the shirt at the waist. Remember accessories pull a trend and look together so for added statement, add coin necklace, hoop earrings and ankle lace up sandals. Another way to wear this trend is to wear a silk contrast color shirt with a graphic color-blocked top and pants for an all-over color statement. Add color-blocked neon sandal or handbag to complete the fantastic look. If all you want is a tease of the trend, tie a wide long paisley scarf as a swashbuckling statement at your hips and leave the ends flowing loose. Many designers went with the traditional color-blocked look and an oversized one button color–blocked jacket paired with a floral color-blocked top and single color pant brings this trend to the top of the fashion chain. Now when you think of exotic…what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Animal skin. The real thing requires a lot of care and upkeep. So if you’re like me and don’t want the pressure, opt for a mock croc handbag. You get the look and feel of animal print, but minus the hefty price tag and maintenance. Animal skin looking handbags add flair to your outfit. It kicks whatever you’re wearing up a notch because it adds texture and sheen. It works best if you’re not wearing something glittery, sequined, or shiny. You don’t want too many textures and shines competing with your arm candy. But it does work well with leather, so you don’t have to hang that back up. Olivia + Joy has a fabulous “Big Spender” handbag that is in the shape of a doctor’s bag that adds glamour. KDNY designed two great mock croc handbags in a crossbody and satchel to fit your style in two neutral colors. Nude and dark gray are wardrobe palette staples. Prefer a tote? STEVEN has you faux croc covered with the gray tote bag.
Just not feeling extra exotic? No problem. Pick a leather handbag in a nice bold color with eye-catching hardware. Cynthia Rowley “Helena” clutch gives you a hot red leather clutch that’s also perfect for the nightlife, and is embellished with gold hardware to get the question, ‘where did you get that bag?’ Don’t tame the handbag beast, feed it a piece of exotic arm candy.

Men may not think much about accessories as part of their style, but they’re a big factor, and they’re already in your closet. Watches, belts, hats, sunglasses, tie clips, shoes, and of course, the most important men’s accessory, the wallet, are all a part of the daily routine.
Men tend to see them for the function they serve rather than the fashion value they provide, so ask a standard man which “accessories” he’s carrying and he’s likely to say “None” as he shift his briefcase from one hand to another.
This is sort of the point, though; men’s accessories are about both fashion and function. A perfect example is the scarf and knit cap. They do a job. They keep you warm. The knit cap is especially functional for men rocking a sexy shaved/bald head. It’s a hot look that makes for a cold Winter without some coverage up there, and the knit cap gets it done, while a scarf takes care of the neck and upper body. Ain’t no shame in looking good while staying warm, though.
A chunky chocolate brown knit scarf or teal cashmere in a herringbone pattern is an easy way to add some detail and masculine color.
A grey knit cap can get a bump from a simple black stripe. Like every man knows, it’s all in the details, and it doesn’t take much to go beyond the standard black scarf/black cap Winter uniform to wearing accessories that are about function and fashion.

Pucci, Gucci, Ferragamo. As the names roll off of the tongue they conjure up images of effortless chic and high quality, down to the very smallest detail. Those small details are best shown off in handbags-- luxurious leathers, substantial hardware, timeless styling. A quality handbag will stand the test of time and, unlike a dress or a blazer, you can use it just about every day.
Clutches go easily from day to night-- and contain all of your essentials-- keys, lipstick, wallet and phone. The croc and detailing on Gucci's Spring 2012 clutches are just perfect: Neutral but not boring.
Need to carry more than just the bare essentials? A refined hobo bag, like those found in Gucci's Spring 2012 collection just might be what you need. The deep blues, chain strap, and subtle brushed gold details keep things stylish, yet refined. Blue might not be the obvious choice, but it can be just as versatile as black or cognac and makes a much bigger statement.
Want a boost of color? Look no further than Ferragamo's Spring collection-- not a black or grey bag to be found! If you don't want to pair a bright bag with even brighter clothing, the POP of color the handbags provide would look amazing with any neutral.
Pucci has saturated colors and their signature prints available. Need a bag that can carry enough for the day at the beach but look great with a sundress?
Italian handbags may rarely described as inexpensive, yet, when you stop and think about it, they provide fantastic value when you consider the 'cost per use'. For your spend you not only get exceptional quality and substance but you also get stylish and craveworthy goods.

I know the importance of a great handbag, and not just as a fashion blogger but also as an everyday woman on the go. Handbags are like a second home to us, we carry around all of our essentials in there: make-up, cellphone, wallet, and even sometimes an extra pair of shoes. We not only need our bags to accommodate our lifestyle, but we also need them to be equally comfortable and fashionable. Sometimes finding all three things in one bag can be a headache, and lets be honest we sometimes fall for the small bag that we just find too adorable to pass up. Well ladies, it’s high time we find ourselves that perfect bag and it’s easier then ever this season thanks to brightly colored satchels and totes.
Forget everything you have ever known about satchel bags. These bags have gotten a serious modern day twist to them. Not only are these styles trendy, but sophistication and class abounds. These bags are comfortable since many come with a cross-body strap, which relives weight of your shoulders, and are roomy enough to carry around all your goods. Satchels are perfect for the busy business woman who packs her bags full of papers, notebooks, and even the occasional laptop. This season this handbag style is getting even more of a modern day makeover, offered up in a variety of colors ranging from neon to candy colored like the very popular Zanith Vivian Mini Satchel. This bright color trend is fun to try with a handbag especially if you are scared of going all out with a colorful outfit. These bags will give a pop of life to your outfit and will take your from day to night.
What woman doesn’t love the tote bag? Thanks to companies like Longchamp for making it perfectly acceptable and fashionable to tote around a tote bag. Tote bags are really like magically little bags; they are great for carrying around just about everything but the kitchen sink. Totes, much like the satchel, has been redesigned to fits all your needs and come in delicious must have colors. Make your everyday outfit stand out more by choosing a tote bag that is full of color. Whether going to the gym or office, totes are the cheerful that really make a statement.
Dare to be bright this season and match your colorful bags with stand out accessories and colorful clothing. Take your monotonous work outfit to fab by pairing your stand out satchel or tote with some funky accessories like a brightly colored necklace or layered bracelets. The fearless fashionista may even opt to pair their carry-all with some slim fitting colored denim, but beware of color-overdose. When in doubt keep it simple: stay in the color family or colors that are close together on the color pin wheel and stick with no more then three different colors or shades. Viola! You’ve got yourself an on-trend outfit that will take you from fall to spring.
